'Once' Director Helming Steve Carell in 'Dogs of Babel'
John Carney, who directed the acclaimed musically-designed Once, just inked an offer to direct Dogs of Babel, Mandate's adaptation from the Carolyn Parkhurst novel starring Steve Carell. The novel, referred to like a tragic story of affection and loss, focuses on a linguistics professor (Carell), who returns home eventually to locate his wife dead within their backyard. Though police rule her dying any sort of accident, the professor is less than sure. Using the only witness towards the dying being the pair's dog, the grief-stricken guy endeavors to train it to speak hoping he can uncover what really happened. Lionsgate Worldwide is handling worldwide sales about this title. Babel assists because the Irish filmmaker's greatest project up to now, and the first American-created one too. Regardless of the attention he received from Once, which won Spirit Honours within the foreign film category, CAA-repped Carney has stored focusing on small Irish projects with movies for example Zonad, which received several Irish Film and tv Honours, and also the approaching drama The Rafters.
